The Borg

AUSL has been outed – it’s the Borg.

The Academy of Urban School Leadership, which has already taken over 12 CPS schools with their “turnaround” model, is now robo-teaching by equipping rookie teachers with transmitters in their ears so they can follow instructions from “master teachers.”

The Tribune broke the story this morning, though clearly downplayed it as a feel-good story about teacher “cooperation” in order to minimize public panic about the alien AUSL invasion:

“Bliss Maki, a new teacher at the Bradwell School of Excellence on Chicago’s South Side, has yet to develop that all-important trait of her more seasoned colleagues: eyes in the back of her head…. But on a recent Tuesday afternoon, she had help — the voice of a veteran teacher giving pointers through a transmitter in her ear. Melissa Monaco, a ‘coach’ with many years of experience as a teacher, sat in the back of the room whispering advice into a walkie-talkie.”

For those of you who were not paying attention (or born yet) in the 1990’s, here’s an “enhanced” version of the Wikipedia description of the Borg: the Borg are cybernetically enhanced humanoid drones organized as an interconnected collective, the decisions of which are made by a hive mind (read Bill Gates) linked to subspace domain (read the Business Roundtable). The Borg possess millions of vessels and have conquered thousands of systems (via the Microsoft monopoly). They operate solely toward the fulfilling of one purpose: to “add the biological and technological distinctiveness of other species to [their] own” in pursuit of perfection (i.e. 100% proficiency on state standardized tests). This is achieved through forced assimilation (firing experienced teachers of color and replacing them with young, mostly white Teach for America grads), a process which transforms individuals and technology into Borg, enhancing – and simultaneously controlling – individuals by implanting or appending synthetic components.

Then there are all those missing children. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
