I’ve been corrected – there is no legal restriction on PURE encouraging a YES vote on the elected school board referendum – so be sure to go to the END of the ballot and VOTE YES if you live in one of the below-listed precincts (Thanks to Jackie Leavy for sending around this info):

Elected School Board Advisory Referendum

An advisory referendum question on whether or not Chicago Public Schools should have an elected school board will appear on the November, 2012 ballot as follows:
“Shall each member of the Board of School District 299, known as the Chicago Board of Education, be elected by voters of the City of Chicago, State of Illinois?” Yes No

This non-binding public policy question will appear on the ballots in parts or all of the following precincts:
Ward 1: Parts or all of Precincts 2, 4, 12, 16, 19, 23, 26, 28, 32, 33, 35, 39
Ward 3: Parts or all of Precincts 1, 4, 11, 12, 20, 23, 24, 29, 31, 35, 38

A simpler question, “Should the City of Chicago have an elected school board?” will appear on
the ballot in the 24th Ward, and potentially, the 28th and parts of the 29th Ward
